TEXT AS INTERFACE

MAY / 2019 Special Thanks Tyrone Drake
Carlos Amorales is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Mexico City. Educated in Amsterdam at Gerrit Rietveld Academie and Rijksakademie, Amorales expresses his unique background through examinations of the subconscious mind and an extensive library of recurring vector graphics in his work.
This project draws inspiration from Amorales’ works Vagabond in France and Belgium (2011) and La Lengua de los Muertos (2012), which both explore asemic alphabets and nonexistent language.
In this project an imagined alphabet is used alongside roman letters, creating an abstract and unreadable interface that assumes the appearance of a functional alphabet but has no inherent meaning.
